In this interview, Judge Meenakshi Aggarwal emphasized the critical link between gender equality and women's workplace safety and health. She highlighted that without gender equality, efforts to empower women in various aspects such as nutrition, education, and employment are hindered. Ensuring a safe and secure workplace environment is essential for boosting women's confidence and dignity, thereby facilitating their empowerment.

In terms of legislative measures to encourage women's participation in the workforce, Judge Aggarwal outlined key areas that nations should address. These include equal pay for equal work, fixed working hours with holidays and compensatory leave, provision for night shifts with proper security arrangements, and establishment of facilities like canteens, restrooms, first aid boxes, and crèches within factory premises. Additionally, legislation should cater to women's specific needs such as maternity leave, nursing breaks, health insurance, and retirement savings mechanisms. Addressing sexual harassment in the workplace through effective redressal mechanisms is also crucial.

Judge Aggarwal emphasized the importance of sensitization and training programs for stakeholders to safeguard women's legal rights in the workplace. She highlighted the need to change traditional mindsets regarding women's capabilities and skills, despite increased participation in the workforce. Sensitizing employers about the impact of a safe and respectful work environment on women's health and well-being is essential. Judge Aggarwal shared her efforts in organizing awareness programs in educational institutions and utilizing media platforms to raise awareness about women's workplace safety and security.
