The Chinese Taipei Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) is proud to announce the prestigious appointment of their President, Tsai-Chen Tsai, as a Grand Justice to the Constitutional Court.
President Tsai Ing-wen nominated Tsai-Chen Tsai as a Grand Justice and her nomination was confirmed by the Legislative Yuan (Congress) on June 21, 2023. The Constitutional Court is responsible for reviewing final court decisions and the constitutionality of laws and regulations.
President Tsai-Chen Tsai’s career and dedication to the rule of law is well-known and respected. She is a graduate from the National Taiwan University Department of Law having passed the Advanced Financial Examination and the Judges Examination (1981).
In 2002, while serving in Taiwan’s High Court, she was appointed as the Deputy-Director of the Criminal Department of the Judicial Yuan, the highest administrative department. Tsai-Chen Tsai’s studies in the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) graduate program at National Taiwan University led to a master’s degree.
In 2009, President Tsai-Chen Tsai was appointed as a Justice for the Supreme Court followed by successive appointments as Deputy of the Criminal Department, Judicial Yuan (2014), President of the Taiwan Shilin District Court (2016-2019).
In March 2023, our chapter’s President Tsai-Chen Tsai was recommended by the Judicial Yuan to become a Justice of the Constitutional Court. President Tsai Ing-Wen officially nominated Supreme Court Judge Tsai-Chen Tsai (May 2023) and her nomination was confirmed by the Legislative Yuan, as a Justice of the Constitutional Court on June 21, 2023.
President Tsai-Chen Tsai was elected to become our President of the Chinese Taipei Chapter of International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) by its Board on February 3, 2023. Her commitment promise includes promotion, support and our strong partnership with IAWJ. Key focus items include the promotion of women judges’ professional competence, concern about working environments for women judges, and responsibility acceptance of social concerns through the strength of the Association of Women Judges. The Chinese Taipei Chapter is honored to have Constitutional Court Justice Tsai-Chen Tsai as its President and offer her our respectful and sincere ‘Congratulations’.
