Sarah E. Turberville

Executive Director

Sarah E. Turberville is Executive Director of the International Association of Women Judges. Sarah is an expert on access to justice and fair courts in the U.S. and has worked extensively with state and federal judges to advance meaningful legal reform to protect the rights of the most vulnerable members of society. She has previously led programs on criminal justice and democratic institutions at the Project On Government Oversight, The Constitution Project, and the American Bar Association, and has also worked as a public defender, served as adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland, and as a law clerk to the defense bar before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague. Sarah is a graduate of Tulane Law School and a member of the Maryland Bar.

Jane Charles-Voltaire, Esq (she/her)

Director of Programs and Partnerships



Jane Charles-Voltaire, Esq. is the IAWJ Director of Programs. Jane has over ten years of experience in international law and international program management. Jane provides strategic leadership and oversight to IAWJ programs, which support women justice sector actors in advancing human rights initiatives and promoting gender equality within courts around the globe. Jane earned her B.A. in Romance Languages and Literature from Wesleyan University and her J.D. from Temple University.

Anne T. Goldstein

Curriculum and Program Development Director



Anne Tierney Goldstein is a Senior Advisor to the IAWJ. Over many years she has had the honor of working with IAWJ members from all over the world to develop and implement judicial training curricula involving discrimination and gender-based violence, property rights, rights within families, employment discrimination and sexual harassment, sextortion, human trafficking, and the rights of LGBTQI persons. She has taught international women’s human rights law at the graduate and undergraduate level at Georgetown.

Amie Lewis (she/her)

Senior Programs Officer

Amie Lewis is the Senior Program Officer for the Women in Leadership in Law (WILIL) initiative for the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ). Amie is an experienced project and grant manger with over ten years of experience in the legal sector, training attorneys, judges, and court personnel, focusing on gender equity and civil legal system reform. She has worked in both local and national nonprofits to develop systems, build community partnerships, and implement cutting-edge and practical technology solutions. Amie holds a B.A. in political science from McKendree University and an M.A. in women’s studies from Texas Woman’s University.

Nephtaly Pierre-Louis

Senior Communications and Membership Officer



Nephtaly is the Senior Communications and Membership Officer for IAWJ. Before joining IAWJ as full-time staff, he worked as a Project Outreach Coordinator in a USAID-funded project on Human Trafficking, called BEST, that the association co-implemented in Haiti. Nephtaly has a master's degree in International Relations from Taiwan. He is fluent in Haitian Creole, French, and English. Nephtaly has a passion for human rights advocacy and youth development.

Talia Soledad Quiroz Cossio (she/her)

Communications Officer

Talia Quiroz is the Communications Officer of the International Association of Women Judges, with years of experience in Social Media Management and Data Analysis. She has a degree in Marketing from the Universidad Privada Boliviana. Ms. Quiroz has experience working with nonprofits outreach and communication. She also has expertise in creative graphic design and the use of multiple Adobe programs. Ms. Quiroz pursues a master's in digital marketing.

Pearl Ahiataku


WILIL Initiative Coordinator


Pearl is a BL candidate at the Ghana School of Law. She holds an undergraduate degree in Law from the University of Ghana where she represented the University in international moot court competition. She is passionate about human rights, promoting social justice and equality for all. She desires to pursue a career path that would contribute significantly to the development of the International Criminal Justice System.

Ana Maria Crespo Polo


WILIL Initiative Coordinator  


Ana Maria is a third year Law student at Macquarie University in Sydney. Ana began her studies in Universidad del Azuay in her home country of Ecuador. While studying, Ana worked in multiple areas of Ecuadorian law including civil, constitutional and criminal law. Her most impactful experience was working with victims of domestic and gender violence in her hometown’s Court of Justice. In 2022 Ana moved to Sydney to continue her studies, and, in 2024, she began working at a local law firm that specialises in helping victims of historical sexual abuse. Ana aspires to contribute towards the fight against gender discrimination and the biased application of the law.

Céline Bussenius


WILIL Initiative Coordinator  


Céline is a third-year Political Science and International Relations student at HEIP Paris, whose passion for international relations was shaped by her multicultural upbringing at the intersection of French, Haitian, and American cultures. Her academic and professional journey includes legal internships in the U.S. judicial system, where she engaged with issues of migration and international legal cooperation. Committed to cultural diplomacy and diversity, she co-founded Roots, the first African and Afro-descendant student association at her school, leading initiatives to promote inclusion. Céline aspires to merge her multicultural perspective, legal expertise, and geopolitical insight to foster inclusive diplomacy within the Caribbean and African diasporas.

Laura Vorbach

Data Management/Membership Coordinator



Laura Vorbach is a MA candidate at the University of Potsdam, in Potsdam, Germany, where she is currently writing her thesis on international development agencies’ efforts to localize justice reform projects. Originally from the United States, Laura received her BA in Political Science and Criminal Justice from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in her home state of New Jersey. After graduation, she worked as a paralegal for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and in 2023 worked with the U.S. State Department in the Bureau of International Organizations. Strongly interested in public international law, social justice, and human rights, Laura will be attending Boston University Law School in the fall.

Aashni Jain

Data Management/Membership Coordinator



Aashni Jain is a summer 2025 intern with the IAWJ Membership and Communications team. She graduated from William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a minor in Data Science in 2024, after which she went on to work on the leadership development team at EnCompass LLC. Prior to this role, she held various on campus positions and internships, including research roles with AidData and the W&M American Bosnian Collaboration Project. This fall, she will be heading to Chicago to pursue her MS in Computational Analysis and Public Policy at the University of Chicago. She is excited to be with the team for the next few months, assisting with data management, coordination and supporting IAWJ's mission where possible.
